The Magic Formula
There are millions of people who are gambling away their salvation. They are simply betting on the best looking horse. They pick a local church or flip through the television channels Sunday morning, then stop at the best looking one.
That's usually the one that has the most snappy sayings or the one with the magic formula that is guaranteed to get you into heaven. (usually based on something "you" do)
Once they have found the one that they can slip on like a pair of comfortable shoes, they stay there. Thereafter, everything the leader says, is taken as the "inspired word of God". God help anyone who disagrees with it!
This seems like a pretty good deal too. All that is required, is to attend faithfully every week, pray when the preacher says: "let us bow our heads", read your bible when the preacher says: "let us turn too chapter "X" and verse "Y" in book "Z", don't drink, don't smoke, don't swear and whatever you do, don't forget to pay your 10% tithe to "our" Church.
This is the magic formula. Follow this formula and you have a first class ticket to heaven. On the way, you get the drink with the little umbrella, (non- alcoholic of course) a window seat, and a firm promise that when you arrive, you won't have to live by that bum in the back row that isn't dressed very well.
This is not only a wonderful formula, it saves a lot of time and hassle and it's faster. Faster because we don't have to take time out of our busy schedule to have an actual personal relationship with God "or" his son. (That's the preachers job anyway)
It saves a ton of time reading too! We just read whatever scriptures the preacher points out Sunday morning (whether in context or not) and can skip the rest. (who's got time for that anyway) Another thing, if I have to quit smoking, then heaven is the least God can do for me! I won't even mention drinking, because I don't want to place God in too much debt. He owes me enough as it is.
I can say I've followed the formula, and everything on the list has been checked off! I can't wait to get to heaven and show God everything I've done and the sacrifices I've made for him. I must have one whale of a big mansion waiting for me up there. (maybe even as big as some of the TV evangelists have here on earth) Who knows?
Does anyone want to hear the truth yet? Or are you too comfortable? Change is hard and the truth truly does hurt! The truth "can be found" on the Power of Faith Ministries website, but "you" have to read it. Once you've read the truth, don't just take "my" word for it, read your bible and confirm it.
P.S. - Good luck on your trip.
