"School Shootings" - How to liven up your day . .
This title is not meant to be disrespectful, but actually more of a "quote". On January 29, 1979, Brenda Ann Spencer, 16 years old and armed with a .22-rifle, opened fire at Cleveland Elementary School, killing two adults and wounding eight children and one police officer.
Spencer was later apprehended after a six-hour stand-off, and she was asked of her motive for the killing, to which she shrugged and infamously replied "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day."
Since 1970, there have been 135 school shootings and massacres, mostly in the United States. 17 took place in primary schools, 81 in secondary schools and 37 in colleges. The worst thing about this is that it is accelerating in frequency and will continue to do so.
The latest instance happened in Dekalb, Illinois, at Northern Illinois University on February 14, 2008. when Stephen Kazmierczak, 27 years old, killed five people and wounded 16. Kazmierczak then turned the gun on himself and committed suicide.
Is this a coincidence or is there a reason for these frequent outbursts? The reason is very clear to me, however, in this short slice of blog, I don't expect you to be overwhelmingly convinced. School shootings started to gain in intensity, shortly after God was being removed from the schools and colleges.
Is this God punishing us for kicking him out? On the contrary, when God was thrown out, he was no longer there to protect. Can you imagine if we threw out all of the policemen and military from our country? The result would be quite the same.
Many school officials have tried to ban bibles and prayer from the public schools. Even though this is unconstitutional and they lose in court, they still do it! And when forced to uphold the law, they make students feel unwelcome and out of place when they exercise their right to do so.
I'm a father of 4 and a husband of one wife. There is never a time that any one of them leave this house and go anywhere that I haven't prayed protection over them. I pray protection over my home and property also. Prayer works! Especially when God is invited in, and welcome.
However, where God is denied entrance, and there is no prayer anyway, what else would you expect?
