Stomping Satan's Head
Nothing will get a crowd revved up faster than one of those TV preachers, (local ones too) stomping around the stage as he's simulating "kicking Satan's head" and encouraging everyone else to do the same. Yelling: "Take that Satan" and "he's under your feet".
I don't recall reading anywhere in the bible that God will put Satan under our feet. The verses these preachers are referring to are worded: "Until I put all of your enemies under your feet". These verses are found once in the old testament and 7 times in the new testament.
This is simply just one more miss quoted scripture, because these verses don't even apply to us, they refer to God telling his son that he would put all his enemies under his feet. (and he did - God is too cool)
Maybe it never occurred to these preachers as they were dancing wildly around the stage that, Jesus himself referred to Satan 3 times in the new testament as "The Ruler of this World". (Read John 12:31, 14:30 and 16:11) Anything that gives people a false sense of power within themselves, is always a big hit! (and the donations flood in)
We truly know too little about the spiritual world to be making such bold judgments. What we can see clearly from scripture is that Satan seems to be allowed to walk into God's presence as he pleases. Twice in the book of Job, (Job 1:6 and 2:1) Then "Zechariah 3:1" tells of Satan standing at the right hand of the angel of God.
Let's not forget about Satan coming to Jesus in the desert to tempt him! My point is, you have no power over Satan at this time, neither are you promised any. You cannot order him around like a servant or tell him what to do. What you are promised is protection!
You can bind Satan and you can resist Satan and he will flee from you, but it is not by "your own" power. If you wish to have the authority to use this power, it requires (you guessed it) "A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD". Before you get stomping on Satan's head too hard and all pumped up by some preacher getting ready to pass the offering plate, you might consider this scripture.
Luke 22:31 "Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has demanded permission to sift you like wheat;
"Demanded" is an interesting word. Who did he demand this of? Do "you" want to be protected? Get to know God. Spend time with him. Don't just have a personal relationship with God. Be pleasing to him! When you are, you are not only protected, you will see God start to crush your enemies and those Satan has influenced to do you harm. (He's a good father)
It is not power that we are given, so much as "authority". Let God do the stomping! (You do the talking, let God do the walking)
