Who is the Greatest?
In the modern Christian world, if you ask who is the greatest preacher of this age, and who led the most people to the Lord, the vote would probably be Billy Graham by a landslide. And that's okay with me. I haven't seen every sermon that Billy Graham ever preached, but what I did see was a man who was sincere in heart and truly loved God.
What I didn't see, was a man promising healings and miracles in exchange for your donations to his ministry. (if he did, I never witnessed it) So, in our eyes I can probably speak for all of you, that Billy Graham was the greatest. I don't know how Billy Graham got saved or who led him to the Lord, but let's just suppose (just for fun) that it was one person.
Let's suppose that this one person was a janitor, who said the magic words to Billy Graham that made him want to seek the Lord and dedicate his life to him. So, In God's eyes, who is the greatest? Billy Graham? (who led thousands or millions to the Lord) Or the janitor who led Billy Graham to the Lord?
But, let's not stop there! (it's too darned fun) What about the janitors mother? The one who read bible stories to him every night at bedtime and taught him values and introduced him to the Lord, and made God "real" to him? Who is the greatest? In heaven, who is God going to prepare the biggest table for? Billy Graham?, the janitor, or the janitor's mother?
I don't think I need to tell you do I? God looks at things slightly different than we do. So, what is my point? The point is, mothers are highly underrated. They have trained up presidents and senators and even kings! They have even brought millions of people to the Lord and probably didn't even know it.
Are you a mother? Did it ever occur to you that you may have one of the most important jobs here on earth, not to mention one of the highest places in heaven, simply because of the way you are raising that young son or daughter? The world may ignore you and frown on what you do, but "God sees".
I can appreciate you because I was a single dad and raised 3 children on my own. I didn't do it perfectly enough to give you advice, but I can tell you, don't take the easy road, instead, take time and "teach them". You will do the world and yourself a favor.
