The Mountain Didn't Move!
Jesus said:
Mark 16:17"These signs will accompany those who have believed: in My name they will cast out demons, they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18 they will pick up serpents, and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."
Do I believe this? Yes I do! I'm just not ready to drink a bottle of draino or be poking at a cobra. After all, we should not put the lord to the test. The disciples didn't do that either. But, we do get sick! Why aren't we healed?
Mark 11:23 "Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be taken up and cast into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
Well? Whoever, applies to "me" right? What's the deal? I believed and I commanded that mountain to be thrown into the sea and "Nothing happened!" By the way, I had faith!
Matthew 21:22 "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."
Whoa! I've asked for a bunch of stuff! I got zip! And I believed too!
Luke 11:9 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
Again, there's a whole bunch of stuff I asked for and all I got was a lump of coal in my Christmas stocking. There was the Cadillac I didn't get, then the Lottery I didn't win! (Cost me a whole buck too!) And I had faith! Wow! After all, can all of those people who said that they prayed and asked using "faith" be lying?
Actually, no, they weren't lying. But, neither was God. You see, the problem here was a whole lot of people listening to a whole bunch of "prosperity preachers". For one, the scripture about the mountain in Mark 11:23 was a metaphor.
After all, if every Christian on earth had at one time or another commanded a mountain to be cast into the sea, we would have grown up not ever knowing what a mountain looked like because they would all be gone. Not to mention we would all probably be under water, simply because of the displacement of the water.
So are these all lies? Of course not. These are awesome promises in the bible and guess what? They do apply to you! I'm a mean guy and I'll burst your bubble, but, God is not Santa Claus! He does not "owe" us anything! If you want to see miracles and Gods blessing on your life, "something is required from you".
Dare I say it? Okay! At the risk of being annoying, (far be it from me) I'll tell you. "A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD" (Boy, he drives a hard bargain)
For one thing, ask your self who he was talking too in every one of these scriptures. The answer is (every time) the "disciples". So, how do these scriptures apply to you? Because, a disciple is exactly what "you" are supposed to be! Not only a disciple, but you are also to "make" disciples!
I'll repeat myself. You were never meant to find a religious leader (or guru) and follow him around all your life. You are meant to be a disciple of Christ! Still wondering why you are not getting your miracle? It's because you are depending on the other guy to do it for you!
Matthew 28:19 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
The only way you'll be tossing mountains around is if God tells you to toss one, because it will fit into his plan. However, Living a good life and being prosperous, totally fits into Gods plan, so "command away!" but you can't skip the personal relationship!
Go practice on an anthill if you wish, but it's not going to move unless God knows you and wants it too. You are never the wizard, you are only the "wand" he uses.
