"Who Do You Pick?"

Some years ago, I played in the praise and worship group at a large church. I played Sunday mornings (two services) and Wednesday evenings for about 7 or 8 years. On Sunday mornings, the music had to be "perfect" and I'll admit the choir and the band were awesome.
The music director (a great guy) was formerly from a nationally known Christian rock group who settled here in Flint. The music was flawless and carried out with precision and the large choir was excellent. The music was powerful and motivating.
The group I worked with on Wednesday evenings only consisted of 6 people including myself. Three female singers, one bass player/singer and a keyboard player/lead singer and myself on drums. This group probably didn't sound nearly as good. We made mistakes, and occasionally you'd hear someone out of key, either on vocals or instruments.
My favorite, hands down, was the Wednesday night praise and worship team. We'd pray before each session and every member in it was just plain great people! Sometimes we'd meet at one of the singers houses after the service and just have a good time.
Everyone was so different, that if you were to place us all in the same neighborhood and living on the same block, we probably would not have had a thing to do with each other. However, thrust into the praise and worship setting, everyone had a great time.
Behind the stage were, dressing rooms, a hallway, kitchen, etc.. So after the service, when leaving, you had to go all the way behind and through the back to get out. One night I stayed adjusting or rearranging the drums for some function happening the next night and didn't leave till a little later.
So as I am making my way through the dressing rooms and choir/band area, I see one of the girls from the praise group sprawled out, spread eagle on the floor, face down and praying intensely. I had to literally step over her to get through.
I remember thinking to myself "Hmm this is weird, awkward and uncomfortable. When I reached the door, I turned around. I'm still not sure if she knew I was there or not, but all of a sudden it dawned on me. Looking at her I thought, when I get in trouble and need prayer, "That" is who I want praying for me.
She wasn't doing it for show or for everyone in the church to see and admire, (as so many people do) she thought everyone had already left and was alone. It wasn't so much the position of her body. And to this day don't know what she was praying about, but I do know, God heard her! When you finally get serious - God gets serious.
