"The Holy Trinity"
Link: http://pofm.org
The question: "How can God and Jesus be one person, but two different people", is a question people have been asking themselves for centuries. Scholars have devoted their entire lives to studying the scriptures, and still debate about the "Holy Trinity" to this day. God, The Son and the Holy Spirit are one person, yet three different people.
I will do my feeble best to explain what I know. According to scripture, your word (or words) are very powerful. So powerful, they are almost considered a physical thing. At least as much as we are able to comprehend it. God is the head. (The decision maker so to speak) The Son (Jesus) "is" the word. (Through which all things happen) And the Holy Spirit is the Power.
A crude example of this is: Let’s say "you" are God, The Son is a light switch, and the Holy Spirit is electricity. "You" say: "Let there be light!" The Son says: "CLICK", and the Holy Spirit (electricity) does the work or supplies the power.
However, the simplest way I know is to compare the Father, Son and Holy Spirit to a Man and woman getting married. When you get joined in marriage to someone, you are considered "one" person. (But you are still two separate people) If you join the Army, you are then called a soldier and so are allot of other people, but you are still each individuals.
Did this help, or did it confuse you more? Let me know.
