Are you Religious, Or Are you Saved?

Allot of us pride ourselves on being religious. We even donate a good deal of our time trying to convert others to "our" religion. But there are a couple of problems with that. God hates pride and doesn't like what "we" consider religion!
What is it that distinguishes one religion from another? It is a "set of beliefs" or a "set of laws", in which to live by. Within most of these religions, your salvation is dependant on whether you adopt their set of beliefs, and whether you obey their laws.
If you do, you go to heaven with the other elite people. If you don't, you're worm food! "toast!" And furthermore, you deserve it!
It is human nature to be competetive. If there are no hoops to jump through, and there are no goals to achieve, there is just nothing to compete for. Lets face it, life in this modern day and age, is all about "feeling good about one's self". And nothing makes us feel better than "Winning".
We fail, but we keep trying. And when we finally make it, how wonderful it is. When we've made it through a week or month when we can say: "I attended Church faithfully, I tithed faithfully, I didn't swear even once, I didn't smoke and I didn't drink, (I even turned it down once or twice) How great we feel that we succeeded.
There's just one problem, God is still displeased with you! Why would God be displeased with you? Because "you are guilty!" He will tell you, I sent my son to pay your debt and do your sentence! (your jail time - eternity in hell)
How dare you come before me, in my court, as though you earned it or paid your own debt! What makes you think "you" are so special?
God will then tell you: "Get out of my courtroom! You have insulted my son, and you have insulted me!" Leave now, my angels will escort you, to where you belong.
So, do you get it yet Bubba? No matter how good you are, or how good you think you are, it's "not good enough". Jesus paid your debt! He's the only one who could. To think for a moment that you could just stroll through the gates of heaven because you followed a few man made rules and pleased a few people at your church and got a few applause, is arrogance toward God.
I don't care how bad of a sinner you are, (you might even be as bad as I am) your personal relationship with God (through his son) is everything! Your religion and righteousness is "Nothing".
Make no mistake about this! When you stand before God, if you argue your case, telling him you did this or that, he "will" throw you out! If you say I am guilty, please forgive me, Jesus will step forward and say: "Father! I paid this persons debt! They shouldn't even be here!
God will then make a waving motion with his hand, and angels will then escort you through the gates. (nothing more will need to be said)
Take the time you would normally invest in being righteous and pleasing the religious people, and instead, spend it talking with God. That is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
