"I'll be there with bells on"
Have you ever had anyone say this to you? For instance, you make an appointment to meet with someone at a certain place and they say: "I'll be there with bells on"
In the same spirit of yesterdays blog, I'll tell you what this old saying means. In the United States, back during the gold rush of "49", many people headed out west by covered wagon.
The custom was, you would have "bells" on your wagon. Back then, if you were traveling and had trouble, (broke a wheel . . etc..) and someone came along and helped you, it was customary to give them your bells in return. (for helping you)
So, when someone tells you "I'll be there with bells on" they are just saying: "I'll be there, No problem!"
Or as the Terminator would say: "No Problem-O"
