"The Day After Memorial Day"
Link: http://pofm.org
Memorial day is wonderful. You get the day off work, (sometimes with pay) You fire up the grill, you're surrounded by the ones you love and enjoy the day playing Croquet or badmitten with them. Usually it's sunny and 72 degree's.
But what is Memorial day supposed to be about? It's about the fact that you didn't need to ask anyone for permission to gather together with your family or any other group with over two people in it.
You didn't have to have fellowship with your family in a basement somewhere, for fear of being arrested for conspiring against some government. Neither did you have to stand helplessly by while some sadistic soldiers abused your wife and/or daughters, or killed your husband.
Does this sound just a little too far out there? A little too unbelieveable? Sorry to inform you, but concerning the brave soldiers who gave their lives, and of which we celebrate this Memorial day, it was not uncommon practice in most of the countries in which they died, or were fighting against.
If you visit "Arlington National Cemetary", just walk through and pick any gravestone. Look at it. It doesn't matter if they died 100 years ago, or yesterday, they all have this in common: "Someone loved that person". Just like you love your spouse or children.
Since these are mostly young men, you can be sure that for every person burried there, there were at least two people who's lives were devistated by their loss. No less devistated, than if you lost "your" spouse or your child. (could you even imagine)
If we ever get so wrapped up in having a good time, that we forget what this day is about, "Shame on us" If we ever forget, or take lightly, the sacrifice they made, "Shame on us". If we ever show disrespect to the men and women in the armed forces who could be next, "SHAME ON US".
To the people who use a religious front as a means to glorify themselves, by disrupting the funerals of these brave men and women, I say "You are Cowards" Do you really believe that God or his son is applauding you? (May God have mercy on your soul)
To the people who disrespect the military when they return home, by calling then "baby killers" and other vile things, just because they are allowed to, by the freedom that these soldiers provided. I can only say: "You are parasites".
Dictionary defination of Parasite: parasite >noun 1. an organism which lives in or on another organism and benefits at the other's expense. 2. a person who lives off or exploits others.
I'm sorry for being so bold, but when it comes to this subject, I'm "very" passionate. Thank God our freedom is not dependant on these parasites, who suck the breasts of the nation, but give nothing in return.
If our freedom were dependant on them, they would fill their pants, and the rest of us would have to learn a foreign language.
Next time you see a man or woman in uniforn, treat them good! If you see them in a restaurant and you have money, "Pay their tab". Their paying yours, and they deserve it.
