"What does Hosanna mean?"
Link: http://www.pofm.org
It is a Hebrew word that means: "Save us Lord-Save us please". If you're like I was, you listen to the preacher who has the longest, holiest sounding prayers and sermons.
Again, if your like I was, you don't have a clue what the heck he's talking about half the time, but if he throws in allot of impressive, biblical sounding words, you say "Whoa, this guy is good!"
It's very clear that Jesus didn't like or respect the church leaders who gave lenghty prayers with "holy" sounding words. However, when the people, and even the children shouted "Hosanna" at Jesus, it was very significant.
By shouting hosanna, they were acknowledging that he was God. Because no one can save but God alone! So this made the religious leaders furious.
Ladies and gentlemen, the year is 2008. I'm writing this from America. We speak English here. Preachers, stop trying to impress us while glorifying yourself. If you want to say: "Save us lord", just say it! Then we can all agree with you. (and be saved)
