WILL WE RECOGNIZE LOVED ONES IN HEAVEN?

People have asked me if they will recognize their wife, husband, father, mother, brothers, sisters etc . . . when they get to heaven. The verse Isaiah 64:17 is an interesting verse, and many have taken it to mean that we will have no memory of anything that has happened here on earth while they were alive.
Isaiah 65:16 That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.
Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. (who’s mind? – God’s mind!)
I’ve found if you really want to know the true meaning of a bible verse, you simply back up a couple of verses to put it in perspective. In this case, you only need to back up 1 verse to 64:16.
You see, God was talking about “former troubles”, and he was not saying that “you” wouldn’t remember, or that they would not come into “YOUR” mind. He was saying that “he” would not remember the former troubles and they would not come to “his” mind.
Isaiah 65:17 is simply a continuation of the last part of 65:16, where God says: “because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes”. [Who’s eyes? God’s eyes!]
It’s very similar to this verse when God said:
Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Another interpretation of Isaiah 65 is: “The new heavens and new earth that God creates will be so wonderful, we will spend little time thinking about the old heaven and earth". (No more – no less)
To put it short, you will indeed see and recognize your wife, husband, father, mother, brothers etc… I know I’m looking forward to seeing my parents.
