HAPPY HALLOWEEN ~ REALLY??

After my last email, I was asked: "how could any christian have a Happy halloween? Its just the time when witches and satan worshippers sacrifice the most babies"

I don’t see Halloween as “just” the time when witches and Satan worshippers sacrifice the most babies. We can have a happy Halloween, the same as we can have a happy Easter. After all, the name Easter itself is derived from Ishtar, the ancient Sumero-Babylonian goddess of love and fertility. She is often described as the daughter of Anu, the god of the air.
We can have a happy Halloween, the same as we can have a Merry Christmas, even though the Christmas tree with all Its ornaments are of a pagan origin, and Santa Claus has absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Christ. There are obviously bad points to be made about any holiday, even Christian holidays.
The truth is, comparatively, Halloween is less commercial than even Christmas. Yes, some people do bad things on that day, and worship things that are against our Christian beliefs, but for the most part, if you look at the glass as half “full”, you will see literally millions of people giving without expecting anything in return. (and tens of millions of children benefiting from it)
I think Christians could learn allot from Halloween. Anyone can choose to turn their lights off and not give out candy on that day, but many people choose to give and make children happy without expecting reward or receiving anything in return.
So, how could any Christian have a Happy Halloween? Just look at the children on that day. I see allot of happy children, but the most amazing thing I see is allot of “non Christians” practicing what Christians are supposed to be doing all year long, but rarely do. Being generous and giving without the expectation of reward.
As with any holliday, Halloween is what "you" make of it. Indeed, Halloween is the wiccans and Satanists most sacred holiday, and people of those cults do things that are not only against our Christian beliefs, but even immoral according to the laws of our land. So, should you lock your doors and keep your children huddled in the basement on that day while all the other children are out having fun?
Truly, unless your faith is so weak that you fear you will slip over into the dark side, simply enjoy the good points about the day. After All, if you are a Christian, is there anything to prevent you from worshiping the Lord on that day?
While other people are dressing their children as ghosts, ghouls and demons, is there anything to prevent you from dressing your children as Jesus, shepards, angels or prophets?
When you get down to the root meanings of Halloween, it is a dark holiday. Ask yourself this question: Would the Lord have you avoid this holiday by huddling in your basement, or would he prefer that you be a light in the darkness?
Personally, I say, enjoy the smiles on the children's faces, and enjoy the day for what "you" make of it. I've found that most of the people who nit pick about what other people do, or do not do under the veil of being religious, don't celebrate the true religious holidays such as "The Feast of Tabernacles", "Feast of Trumpets", "Year of Jubilee", or even the "Passover".
Preachers and religious folks like to appoint themselves as "God's policemen", when it concerns what somebody else does. On October 31st, people are not caught unaware when children knock on their door for candy. Matter of fact it is encouraged. Therefore children are not being trained to be "Beggars" on that day as some religious folks would suggest.
On October 31st, if you are worshiping anyone other than the Lord, then there is a problem. Otherwise, at the end of the day, do what I used to do. After the little darlings have finally gone to bed, go swipe a piece of candy or two for yourself. You deserve it!!
