"John McCain is too old for what?"
Too old for what? To my knowledge, he was running for president the last time I checked. Are we sending him to compete in the olympics? I'm not endorsing anyone, but I can say with conviction that "John McCain is a Good Man".
Also, I would have to strongly disagree with anyone who says different. He is the only candidate who's patriotism has been put to the ultimate, true test, and he passed with flying colors.
The age issue is only a very sad attempt by the opposing candidates to make a very competent man look unjustifiably incompetent.
Ask yourself, if this man got elected and turned out to be a "great" president, would it matter to you if he was in office one year or eight? Would you rather have a great president for one year, or a mediocre president for eight years? (the age issue really is irrivant)
Many, many people felt and still feel that John Kennedy's presidency didn't last long enough. If they had known his presidency would be cut short, I don't think it would have effected their vote. Similarly, many people thought eight years was too short for Reagan.
So, all I can say is: "Give me a break". Let's talk about "real" issues. After all, insulting McCain's age, is slightly a step above making fun of someones haircut, or the way they dress. (grade school stuff)
So, what's next? If it will win a presidency, do we make fun of cripples in wheelchairs? Sadly, it's starting to look that way.
It is not worthy of people who would seek to hold the highest office in the country. Besides, where do you draw the line or make the distinction to stop seeking wisdom from someone? Exactly what age would that be?
